How it works

Choosing a starting design already gives you a complete pool concept. Everything after that is optional refinement, and the result shows the Ecopool option that best preserves what you designed.
What you can design
Rectangles, squares, round and oval pools, kidney and freeform outlines, L-shapes, U-shapes, Roman and geometric variations, pool-and-spa layouts and above-ground concepts, from an 8′ × 12′ plunge pool to a 20′ × 40′ family pool or a 10′ × 40′ lap lane. Add a tanning ledge, built-in seating or a spa, pick one of three coordinated looks, and choose inground, above ground or partly inground.
Pool types the designer supports
Construction: concrete/gunite, fiberglass, vinyl liner, modular steel, container, precast concrete, traditional above-ground, soft-sided and stock-tank concepts. Installation: inground, above ground, partly inground. Purpose: plunge, everyday swimming, lap, entertaining, pool and spa, therapy. Specialty concepts such as infinity edges, natural pools, rooftop, indoor, commercial and competition layouts can be saved and are always marked for specialist review. Saltwater, heating, cooling and filtration are equipment preferences, not pool types.
How estimates work
Every option is compared on the same basis: an estimated total project cost, not a bare product price against a finished installation. Ecopool pool packages use the published catalog prices from the Ecopool configurator, starting at $23,660 for the smallest S-Series. Installation allowances and other construction types are ranges with their source, date, scope and limitations listed under Assumptions and limitations. When an item has no approved figure it says “Not yet estimated”. Regional pricing is applied only where credible data exists.
What you receive
A dimensioned layout drawing, a concept photo, a free photorealistic rendering of your own yard, key dimensions and features, scoped cost comparisons, one Ecopool match with its status and what still needs review, and free saving: image export, a printable summary, a share link or email delivery. “Get an Ecopool Quote for This Design” carries the whole design into the quote process so you never start over.

Every shape, explained
Rectangle
Rectangular pools remain the most popular shape because they suit every architectural style, make automatic covers and lap swimming possible, and cost less per square foot than curved designs.
Modern rectangle
A modern rectangle keeps the crisp geometry of a rectangle but pairs it with a full-width tanning ledge, dark interior, and minimal coping for a resort look.
Square
Square pools make excellent plunge pools and courtyard pools, and an attached spa on one side turns the square into a compact pool and spa combination.
Round
Round pools maximize water area for a given perimeter, which keeps wall costs down. They are the most common above-ground shape and make charming plunge pools.
Oval
Oval pools have no corners to bump and look at home in above-ground and vinyl-liner construction, where oval kits are common and affordable.
Kidney
Kidney-shaped pools curve around a central indent that is perfect for a spa, steps, or a planting bed. They fit organically into landscaped yards.
Freeform
Freeform pools are drawn to fit the site, flowing around trees, rocks, and patios. They are almost always concrete and pair well with waterfalls, grottos, and natural stone.
Lagoon
Lagoon pools take the freeform idea further with multiple coves, a sloping beach entry, boulders, and lush planting to create a resort-like escape.
L-shaped
L-shaped pools give you two zones: a long leg for swimming and a shorter leg for a shallow play area, steps, or a spa. They wrap nicely around patios and corners of a house.
Lazy L
The lazy L angles the joint between the two legs, opening up a wide shallow end for steps or a tanning ledge while keeping a straight swimming lane.
U-shaped
U-shaped pools wrap around a patio, a raised spa or a planting notch so two swimming arms share one deck. They are built in concrete or as joined modular shells.
T-shaped
T-shaped pools put a wide shallow area across the end of a lap lane, so swimmers and a crowd of waders can share the pool without getting in each other's way.
Roman
Roman pools add a semicircular end to a rectangle, which is a natural spot for wedding-cake steps and pairs well with traditional and Mediterranean homes.
Double Roman
The double Roman rounds both ends of the pool for a symmetrical, formal look. It suits large lots and traditional landscapes with a central axis.
Grecian
Grecian pools cut the four corners of a rectangle at 45 degrees. The result feels more elegant than a plain rectangle while keeping straight walls that are simple to build and cover.
Geometric
Geometric pools use angled straight walls to create distinctive footprints that echo modern architecture. Offset rectangles and stepped edges create natural spots for ledges and spas.
Lap pool
Lap pools are long and narrow — commonly 8 to 10 feet wide and 40 to 60 feet long — with a uniform depth for uninterrupted swimming.
Plunge pool
Plunge pools trade swimming length for depth and comfort. An 8 by 16 foot plunge pool with a bench and a ledge fits where a full pool never could.
Infinity edge
An infinity-edge rectangle keeps the simple footprint of a rectangle and adds a vanishing edge along the side that faces the view.
Custom shape
Draw a custom outline point by point. Custom shapes are typically built in concrete, and the Pool Designer keeps the footprint, area, and perimeter updated as you draw.

Rectangles, lap pools, plunge pools and pools with a tanning ledge, seating or a spa map directly to an Ecopool configuration, and the result tells you when they do — and exactly what would change when they do not.

Is the Pool Designer really free?
Yes, all of it, with no account: choosing a design, changing it, placing it in your backyard, generating a photorealistic rendering, seeing estimated costs and the Ecopool match, saving an image, printing and copying a share link. Email delivery asks for an email address only, and a quote request asks for your name, email and project ZIP.
Can I design any type of pool, not just an Ecopool?
Yes. The designer covers rectangles, squares, round and oval, kidney and freeform, L-shaped and U-shaped layouts and pool-and-spa concepts, inground, above ground or partly inground, and construction types from concrete, fiberglass and vinyl liner to modular steel, container, precast and above-ground kits. Your original choice is kept; the Ecopool option is shown beside it with every difference listed.
How do estimated costs work?
Every option is shown on the same basis: an estimated total project cost that includes the pool structure and selected upgrades, delivery, placement, excavation or base preparation, installation, utility connections, decking, permits and a contingency. Ecopool pool packages use published catalog prices; installation allowances and other construction types use benchmark ranges with their sources, dates and limitations listed under Assumptions. Items without an approved figure say “Not yet estimated” — never $0.
What happens with my backyard photo?
It is placed on your own device first. When you generate a rendering or send your design, the photo, the placement and the rendering are uploaded to Ecopool and kept, so our team can see exactly what you designed. By doing so you give Ecopool a license to use them — including to train and improve our design and rendering tools — as set out in the Pool Designer Terms. Share links never contain the photo itself.
What does Ecopool need to confirm before a price is final?
Even a catalog match is not approval of your site. Access, soil, slopes, drainage, utilities, setbacks and permits are reviewed by Ecopool or your builder before any figure is final.

A draft stays on this device so refresh and Back never lose it. Copy Share Link or Email My Design keeps a permanent link you can reopen anywhere. Saved designs, photos and renderings are also stored by Ecopool under the Pool Designer Terms.
What are the Pool Designer Terms?
The short version: the designer is free; you must own any photo you upload and it must not show other people; Ecopool may keep, view and use your designs, photos and renderings — including to train its tools and in its marketing; renderings and cost ranges are concepts, not plans or quotes.
