Shipping container architecture is a sustainable form of building swimming pools. By repurposing single-use shipping containers — newly manufactured units used for one overseas shipment — into the structural core of a pool, we extend their useful life and avoid the need for additional concrete, brick, wood, and other building materials. This subsequently lowers the total embodied energetic cost associated with constructing a swimming pool, while delivering a structure that's stronger than a conventional concrete pool.

The idea for Ecopool springs from strolling around in Texas coastal cities, exploring the urban fringe. We were drawn in by the industrial design we found everywhere. In previously abandoned places like old breweries and run-down factory buildings. Made from steel, each pool in our line features over 300 hand welds and alludes to a time when things were built to last. Ecopool places emphasis on essential appeal, practicality, clean-cut lines with a design free of any superfluous decorations.

Every Ecopool begins with several tons of steel. Over the years, pool construction systems have come and go. Nothing matches the durability, strength and versatility of steel. Ecopool makes it easy to construct the perfect pool for any backyard. Typical lap or competition pools include the standard 20 foot and 40 foot length pools in configurations suitable for recreation and all levels of fitness competition or training. Ecopools are structurally sound and self-supporting, whether empty or filled.

With the average inground pool price reaching over $100,000, there was a major opportunity to get more from less — to optimize the work input to work output and gain efficiency.
To reduce on-site construction costs, Ecopool builds each pool's structural system in advance at our Texas manufacturing facility. The pool is then shipped in large sections and is reconnected on-site by a local contractor for a simplified installation. Construction is often completed in just 3-4 days. Our modular systems are fully engineered and welded for a pool that is on time, on budget and built right the first time.
